Gold prices have hit a new high—can you still buy gold jewelry now?Recently, international gold prices have been soaring all the way, breaking through US$4,000 per ounce and historically crossing the "HK$1,000 per gram threshold." Many friends have asked me: with prices this high now, can we still "get on board"? As someone in the jewelry industry, my answer is: jewelry is a kind of "beautiful asset allocation." Not only does it let you shine, but its gold material is also a form of wealth storage that depreciates more slowly than cash. You may think that's just what we jewelry sellers say. Don't rush—please look at the following three points of analysis: Make trends your friend: the underlying logic of gold's rise In the past, behind gold price surges was not only economic uncertainty and safe-haven demand, but also a deeper shift under the global trend of "de-dollarization." As the foundations of dollar credit and global liquidity are shaken, and countries around the world excessively issue money, gold has upgraded from what used to be a "retail asset" to a core strategic reserve for central banks around the world. Today, the continued increased holdings by central banks globally have formed a strong buying force far exceeding selling pressure from Wall Street. Under this structure, gold is becoming a "secondary credit anchor" recognized by the world, and its long-term value logic has completely changed. The purchasing power of the currency in our hands has declined. As long as the macroeconomic environment remains unchanged, the bullish logic for gold will not change. There may be volatility in the short term, but the long term remains promising. Dual value: the perfect combination of an investment product and a consumer product Gold bars are pure investment, but you cannot wear them out the door. Jewelry is different—based on gold and gemstones, it gives assets the function of being "worn." A piece of gold jewelry with exquisite design and outstanding craftsmanship is both an investment product that can preserve value and a consumer product that can adorn beauty. A good piece can even become a family heirloom that carries emotional legacy. Timing the market is less important than the long term: embrace "buy early, enjoy early" In a clear upward cycle, calmly allocate jewelry and gold to avoid future regret over even higher prices. Buying jewelry now is not encouraging short-term speculation, but rather a smarter way to "beautify" and "strengthen" assets. So, if buying gold jewelry is already in your plans, I still believe: buy early, have peace of mind early, and be beautiful early! Read more....What is 24k gold, 18k gold?

Teal SapphireTeal is a combination of blue and green. This captivating color is like seawater, with a faint green tint within the blue. However, the combination of blue and green needs to be just right! Blue and green must blend evenly—neither leaning too blue nor too green. Neither tone can be too dominant for it to be called Teal. Some stones have a gradient between blue and green, and may also have yellow and green elements, but the primary hue should be blue, green, or both. The commercial name Teal comes from a type of green-winged teal in the Americas. At the tips of this duck's wings, there is a tuft of feathers in a blue-green tone similar to that of teal sapphires. How to choose a Teal sapphire?1) Color ratio: Blue and green must blend evenly.2) Clarity: Clean to the naked eye, or with only minor inclusions (almost invisible to the naked eye).3) Cut: The cut proportions must be moderate, with no windowing or extinction. The rarity of Teal sapphires: Due to the different distributions of Teal color, no two Teal sapphires are exactly alike. What collectors purchasing Teal are after is its uniqueness.

VS Blue Rose

Aurora Madama VS Blue RoseOn a silvery-blue base tone, it possesses a rich and marvelous iridescent overtone. As it turns toward the light, one can see silvery-gray, blue-gray, blue-pink, blue-purple, and other color lusters alternating and shifting—ever-changing with each look. This beauty is incredibly vivid and captivating, difficult to express in words or images! Aurora Madama and Blue Rose are not a single color, but rather a grade—pearl strands that have been given commercial names and certificates by Pearl Science Laboratory (PSL). Both belong to the top-tier quality among Japan's Akoya natural silver-blue akoya pearls.Aurora Madama is a special designation given by PSL for "the highest quality of natural silver-blue Akoya pearls of 6mm and above." It can be simply understood as the top one in the Akoya silver-blue category. It is extremely rare and is not the commonly found "Madama color" on the market! Only those that have been identified by PSL and issued a certificate can be called Aurora Madama!Blue Rose is a special designation given by PSL for "the strongest luster of natural silver-blue Akoya." It has slightly more flaws than Madama, and pearl size is not restricted. Only natural silver-blue Akoya with PSL certificate certification can be called Blue Rose.Aurora Madama and Blue Rose both belong to natural silver-blue Akoya, encompassing specific color expressions that lean toward silver, gray, or blue, and each individual piece should be taken as the standard. In terms of quality, Madama is the all-around champion—the highest quality recognition that includes pearl luster, flaw degree, and roundness as comprehensive indicators. Blue Rose is a single-category champion, with the strongest luster grade, but in terms of flaw degree and roundness indicators, Blue Rose is slightly inferior to Madama's rating.*To be graded as Aurora Madama/Blue Rose, the pearls must be natural and untoned, without any artificial irradiation.

Tips for Buying Pearls For many friends who are new to pearls, they don't know how to choose pearls. For beginners, simply keeping the following points in mind is enough! 💡When buying pearls, the first thing to look at is pearl luster! What you wear pearls for is their pearlescent luster. Good pearls present a rich, layered luster, while pearls with poor luster are like dead fish eyes—you'd be better off not wearing them at all. The luster of saltwater pearls is more brilliant than that of freshwater pearls, and some can be like "little light bulbs." Beginners should avoid buying dull, lusterless ones! When buying pearls, the first thing to look at is pearl luster! How do you assess pearl luster? Treat the pearl as a mirror and look directly at the reflection in it. The clearer the reflection, the stronger the luster. The better the luster, the more expensive the pearl!Next, look at the degree of flaws! As the saying goes, "No pearl is without flaw." Pearls are formed in natural environments, so it is very normal to have flaws. Common flaws include growth lines, pits, and spots. The flaw degree of pearls is classified as extremely minor flaws, minor flaws, moderate flaws, and heavy flaws. It is recommended to choose pearls with extremely minor flaws or minor flaws—at a normal social distance, these flaws cannot be seen. The smoother the pearl's surface, the higher the price!Choose the pearl shape you like. Many friends who are new to pearls still think of pearls only as "round." In fact, pearls come in many shapes, including oval and Baroque (irregular), among others.Pearl shapes: We can choose the shape we like, but from the perspective of pearl value standards, the higher the roundness, the better the quality (for pearls of other shapes, the higher the symmetry, the better the quality). Rounder pearls are indeed more valuable, but of course, the primary condition is always to look at pearl luster! When buying pearls, mainly keep the first 3 factors in mind! 👆🏻Nacre thickness The longer the pearl is cultured, the thicker the nacre. The nacre thickness of a pearl is directly related to the pearl's lifespan. Pearls with thicker nacre are more durable, last longer, and therefore have greater collectible and heritage value. Please remember: the lifespan of a pearl is closely related to daily wear and maintenance! The nacre thickness of different types of pearls also varies: Japanese Akoya: generally 0.2–0.5mm South Sea pearls: generally 0.8–3mm Tahitian pearls: generally 0.8–3mmThicker nacre = better luster? Wrong! There is no direct proportional relationship between nacre thickness and pearl luster. Consumers do not need to excessively pursue pearls with thick nacre.Nacre thickness cannot be judged with the naked eye. If you are buying pearls with certificates, some certificates will note the pearl's nacre thickness.

The Differences Between Saltwater Pearls and Freshwater Pearls The Differences Between Saltwater Pearls and Freshwater Pearls Different origins: Saltwater pearls are mainly produced in the coastal waters of Japan, the Tahitian Islands of French Polynesia, Australia, and the seas of Indonesia. Examples: Japanese Akoya, Japanese Mabe pearls, Tahitian black pearls, South Sea white pearls, South Sea gold pearls. Freshwater pearls are mainly produced in the rivers and lakes of Hunan and Zhejiang along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Example: Edison pearls. Different yields: Saltwater pearls have a very low yield. One pearl oyster produces only one pearl. The cultivation process is extremely arduous, time-consuming, and costly, so the price is relatively expensive. Freshwater pearls have a much higher yield by comparison. One pearl oyster can produce multiple pearls, so the cost is relatively lower. As cultivation technology has gradually matured, the yield has also become large. China's annual freshwater pearl output accounts for more than 95% of the global total. Different shapes: Saltwater pearls are cultivated by bead nucleation, which means a perfectly round nucleus is inserted into the mother oyster to grow and complete formation, so the shape is generally relatively regular and perfectly round. Non-nucleated freshwater pearls are cultivated by implanting mantle tissue, so the pearls produced are mostly irregular in shape, with a smaller proportion being perfectly round. Although freshwater pearls have a very high yield, those reaching perfectly round, flawless, and strong luster account for less than one-thousandth. Different colors: Differences between saltwater pearls and freshwater pearls: The colors of saltwater pearls are mainly white series, gold series, black series, silver series, etc., and with overtone, the color layers appear even richer. The main colors of freshwater pearls are white, orange-pink, purple-pink, etc. Different luster: Differences between saltwater pearls and freshwater pearls: The overall luster order is: Japanese Akoya > South Sea pearls > freshwater pearls. Different market value: Influenced by the pearl formation rate and cultivation environment, saltwater pearls are more precious. When choosing pearls, everyone mainly judges pearl quality from aspects such as luster, size, shape, and flaws. From these aspects, saltwater pearls are generally superior to freshwater pearls. However, the claim that freshwater pearls are definitely inferior to saltwater pearls is also rather one-sided. Good freshwater pearls are likewise precious.  Some unscrupulous merchants claim they are selling saltwater pearls, but actually pass off freshwater pearls as saltwater pearls. If you encounter ones with high quality, low price, and no authoritative certificate, you should pay extra attention! Irradiation and dyeing: Freshwater pearls are dyed to pass them off as saltwater pearls. Generally, gold/black/dark-colored pearls are easily faked. For example: South Sea gold pearls / Tahitian black pearls / Madama. Freshwater pearls passed off as saltwater pearls: This kind of fake pearl has a relatively thick surface, rough skin luster, and rigid color. It does not feel as smooth as natural pearls when touched. In addition, you can observe the pearl hole with the naked eye. If the inside is black, then it is an irradiated pearl! How to avoid pitfalls? Try to choose reputable merchants with physical stores, and it is best to be able to visit the store in person to select from stock. Buy products with authoritative certificates: More and more new certification institutions are appearing on the market to appraise pearls, but some do not have very high recognition. For pearl appraisal, only two Japanese certificate institutions are relatively authoritative—the Pearl Science Laboratory and the Pearl institute . Both have a long history and relatively high recognition in the industry.

Anyone who has bought diamonds knows that fluorescence is a negative factor for diamonds. Fluorescence reduces a diamond's transparency and easily affects its visual effect. But for colored gemstones, fluorescence is a positive factor. Why?Take ruby as an example. The element chromium gives ruby its beautiful red color, while the element iron darkens the ruby's color. The strength of a ruby's ultraviolet fluorescence is mainly related to the iron-chromium ratio (Fe/Cr). Chromium can cause fluorescence, while iron has an inhibitory effect on ultraviolet fluorescence. So if you see a high-quality ruby with a beautiful color on the market, it may have very strong red fluorescence, which makes it especially gorgeous in sunlight, displaying a fiery red full of vitality. Because fluorescence enhances the beauty of its color, its value is naturally higher.Does a strongly fluorescent ruby necessarily have high value?Whether a gemstone is high quality and beautiful is the first priority when choosing a gemstone. Strong fluorescence will, to a certain extent, help increase a ruby's value, but it is not absolute. If a ruby has strong fluorescence, is pigeon's blood red, and has a pure red color, its value will not be low; but if the ruby's color is rose red, even if it has strong fluorescence, its value will be greatly reduced. After all, a ruby's color is its life. When buying a ruby, do not be overly fixated on the strong fluorescence effect. You should comprehensively consider its color, clarity, size, etc. Focus on the ruby's quality.Burmese rubies generally have more inclusions and a velvety feel, and because of their relatively high chromium content, their fluorescence is stronger. Mozambican rubies generally have relatively clean crystals, but because of their relatively high iron content, their color is relatively dark and dull. However, rubies from different origins also differ in high and low quality, and the quality of a gemstone cannot be judged by origin alone. In addition to ruby, pink-red spinel from Namya-Mansin in Myanmar also has strong fluorescence. The fluorescence masks the gemstone's dark areas and greatly increases the color's saturation. In addition, there are also sapphire, emerald, topaz, alexandrite, apatite, zircon, danburite, fluorite, moonstone, and so on...

When talking about South Sea white pearls, the first reaction is: expensive, large, and low production. The mother oyster of South Sea white pearls is the white-lipped oyster (Pinctada maxima). The mother oyster itself is relatively large, so the overall diameter of white pearls is generally above 10mm, mostly between 10-13mm. Those below 10mm and between 16-18mm are relatively rare. Its mother oyster has a very long gestation period, generally cultured for 5 years. South Sea white pearls are also the rarest cultured pearls in the world. Production has dropped sharply, prices are high The white-lipped oyster has very high requirements for water quality and climate. Poor water quality will directly affect the production of South Sea white pearls. The three major producing areas of South Sea white pearls are the northwestern waters of Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Among them, Australian South Sea pearls are only produced in a small part of the northwestern coast of Australia. This area is sparsely populated, with pure water quality, suitable water temperature, open bays, and rare typhoons. The excellent water environment is very conducive to producing white-lipped oysters that yield the highest quality pearls, so Australian South Sea pearls are the finest among South Sea pearls. Our South Sea white pearls are also all produced from "Australian South Sea," also known as "Australian white pearls." Due to environmental pollution, the sea areas suitable for pearl farming are now decreasing day by day, which is also the reason why the market price of Australian South Sea pearls remains high. Why are Australian white pearls so rare and precious? In recent years, with the continuous development of e-commerce livestreaming sales models, the popularity of Australian white pearls has continued to soar. Since the beginning of 2023, topics related to Australian white pearls have frequently appeared on trending searches on major platforms, triggering wave after wave of pearl-buying trends. At present, market demand exceeds supply, and prices have risen accordingly. "Things are precious when they are rare" — this saying could not be more suitable when applied to Australian white pearls. Every Australian white pearl is hard-earned. It not only embodies the labor of the mother oyster, but also the dedicated efforts of every worker. Unlike the mother mussels of freshwater pearls, the white-lipped oysters that gestate Australian white pearls are very difficult to obtain through artificial breeding. Most can only be caught from the ocean. Therefore, a large number of divers are needed to dive into the sea to find suitable white-lipped oysters, and labor costs are extremely high. Why are Australian white pearls so rare and precious? At the same time, the Australian government has set strict quotas on the harvesting of mother oysters. Only a certain number of white-lipped oysters can be harvested each year to maintain ecological balance. In addition, the white-lipped oyster also has the longest growth cycle among all pearl oysters, generally more than five years, and the vast majority of mother oysters can only produce one pearl in their lifetime. It is clear that every Australian white pearl is precious and rare. The white-lipped oyster has extremely demanding requirements for its growing environment. It needs to grow in clear and pure waters with suitable temperature and a rich environment. Only Australian white pearls grown in such an environment can have brilliant luster and a fine, smooth surface. Therefore, whether selecting or maintaining farms for Australian white pearl cultivation, great attention is paid to every detail. During the process of gestating Australian white pearls, workers also need to continuously monitor water quality and water temperature to ensure that the salinity and temperature of the seawater remain within the comfortable range for the white-lipped oyster. But even with careful care, only about 83% of mother oysters can successfully gestate Australian white pearls, and among that 83%, only a small portion produce high-quality round pearls. Compared with the output of other pearls, the production of Australian white pearls is extremely scarce. Its output is about 1/4 that of South Sea golden pearls, 1/9 that of Tahitian black pearls, and 1/50 that of Akoya pearls. Its rarity is evident at a glance. Paspaley is one of the world's largest Australian white pearl brands and farming companies, accounting for 85% of global Australian white pearl production. The company's name is synonymous with high-quality Australian white pearls. It has driven many revolutionary advances in the pearl industry and has also changed the position of pearls within the entire jewelry industry. Australia is the only country in the world still using wild pearl mother oysters to cultivate pearls. The main reason is that the large pearl oyster is very sensitive to the environment, and both the survival rate of artificially bred mother oysters and the pearl output ratio are relatively low. Peter Bracher, Executive Director of the Paspaley Group, introduced: "In order to ensure the sustainability of shell collection and maximize protection of the environment of the large pearl oyster's natural habitat, wild large pearl oysters are manually collected by divers, and can only be collected in designated areas and at specific sizes (usually 120-165mm). This is an environmentally friendly and sustainable commercial fishing model that will not cause damage to the seabed or generate waste." The Australian pearl industry adopts a government-regulated quota system, which stipulates the maximum number of wild large pearl oysters that can be harvested each year. The main harvesting location for wild large pearl oysters is Eighty Mile Beach south of Broome in Western Australia. Here, divers descend to depths of more than 30 meters for manual harvesting. Factors affecting pearl prices Several factors to consider when purchasing South Sea pearls ① Overtone The color of South Sea white pearls is mainly white, accompanied by a small amount of derivative colors. Because the waters where they grow are clear, natural white pearls have excellent luster. ② Luster In the industry, pearls are generally classified into grades such as weak luster, medium luster, strong luster, very strong luster, and mirror-grade extremely strong luster. We can use the simplest "mirror test" method to judge: the clearer the reflected image, the better the luster. ③ Size Size mainly depends on personal preference. In addition to body shape, the occasion of wear should also be considered. Under the same luster and flaw level, the larger the pearl, the higher its value and the more expensive its price. This is because the longer the cultivation time, the higher the probability that the mother oyster will become diseased or die, and the greater the demands on its own carrying capacity. ④ Shape "Pearls round and jade lustrous" — the rounder the pearl, the rarer and more valuable it is. However, the shape of a pearl can usually only be distinguished at close range, so roundness is relatively placed after "skin luster." ⑤ Flaws "No pearl is without flaws." Natural pearls all have flaws. What we usually call flawless refers to pearls that can be made into jewelry when observed with the "naked eye," and flaws generally can only be observed at close range. Moreover, if perfect flawlessness is required, one must pay an excessively high price. When the budget is limited, it is not advisable to be overly concerned about flaws. As a organic gemstone, Australian white pearls have long been controversial because of their "high price." Against the backdrop of soaring market demand and skyrocketing prices today, such voices are even more prevalent across major platforms. But when we focus on Australian white pearls themselves, their noble and coolly elegant temperament remains an irreplaceable presence in the pearl world. "Dignified, round and lustrous with rich colors" — since ancient times, they have always been deeply loved by women. If you also want to buy a strand of Australian white pearls of your own, you are welcome to contact us to select and quality-check them for you.
